Bio: Chicago, Illinois, the windy city. It may be the most competitive indie and punk scene in the Midwest unleashing some of the best bands of the last few decades. Although a band is meant to be a collective effort, it is rare that you find a group of guys writing music based on their individual influences as opposed to what's selling this week. One might question what a band that listens to such a wide variety as The Blood Brothers and Nelly Mckay might sound like... rightfully so. The answer? Probably not a midpoint between the two at all.
June, Mark Sutor, Tim Brennan, Mark Palacz, and AJ Brown basically started the band as a joke, says Sutor, and realized we had a pretty good thing going. After recording an early four-song demo and playing around the local Chicago scene and effectively building a loyal following, this joke began to catch on. The band independently released The June EP in mid-summer of 2004. Soon after, the band signed with Chicagos Victory Records. Having people we work with that share the same vision as us is an awesome situation, having those same people be in Chicago is amazing, says Sutor.
Junes new music is reminiscent of Chicagos scene while portraying more down to earth interests. The band is a delicate balance between a power pop collaboration combining melodic guitar hooks and vocal harmonies and a rock band lyrically straying away from typical avenues. With a very active year ahead of them and a debut full length produced by Brian Mcternan(Thrice, Hot Water Music) dueout on Victory records in summer, theyre coming to a town near you to sleep on your floor. The band will be keeping a relentless touring schedule and they have no plans of slowing it down after 2005. Although the average age in the band is 20 and some of the boys liquor licenses are newly acquired, they are happy to report that none have become full-time alcoholics yet. Dont worry gentlemen. Bio: Kittie was founded in 1996 by sisters Mercedes and Morgan Lander when they were barely on the cusp of adolescence. Now at the ages of 21 and 23, they are accomplished musicians, writers and well seasoned veterans of the industry.

For most hip-hop acts, being in the game for over a decade is reason enough to feel content. But for Southern California's own Kottonmouth Kings, blending rap and punk rock styles is only the beginning of the story. Releasing ten albums over the past nine years, the Kottonmouth Kings are more than a seven-man hip-hop crew. Kottonmouth Kings “Koast to Koast” their 8th studio full-length release, is due out June 6th on Suburban Noize Records.
KMK is at the epicenter of a constantly growing movement - a subculture of sorts - that brings thousands of fans from all walks of life together for exciting live shows and incredible music that extends further to albums by the 10 to 15 other artists on their highly successful independent label, Suburban Noize Records. "It's an open-minded, loyal fan base," said emcee-producer Brad "Daddy" X, who founded the Kottonmouth Kings in 1994. "They range from people who love hip-hop to punk rock to stoners to hippies to young kids to old kids to girls. It's a diverse, eclectic mix of people, which is what's so beautiful about it. The Kottonmouth Kings have been working non-stop since the release of Kottonmouth Kings “Kottonmouth Kings” in May 2005. "Every time we do a new album, it's fun to go on tour," Brad X said. "We add new songs to the set and try to take the show to another level. What excites me about it is getting back to the people and bringing the music live to the people that support it and love it and keep us doing this. Bio: Brought together in Stockholm by guitarists Peter Lindgren and Mikael Åkerfeldt in 1990, Opeth added progressive influences and acoustic instrumentation to their brand of Swedish death metal. As the group progressed, it was very common for an Opeth live set to fly in several different musical directions, on top of an average song lasting no less than ten minutes. Impressed by their originality, Candlelight Records released their debut full-length in 1995, which was titled Orchid, and featured a rhythm section of bassist Johan de Farfalla and drummer Anders Nordin. Edge of Sanity mastermind Dan Swano produced the band's ambitious second album Morningrise in 1996, after which they embarked on a brief tour with Morbid Angel. Century Media took notice and not only licensed Opeth's first two albums for the United States, but also planned on releasing their next album on both sides of the Atlantic. With the recruitment of bassist Martin Mendez and drummer Martin Lopez (ex-Amon Amarth) to replace the departed de Farfalla and Nordin, Opeth's third album My Arms, Your Hearse was released in 1998 to glowing reviews, establishing the band as a leading force in progressive metal with death roots. 1999's Still Life displayed even more of the band's prog rock influences, and the following year the band played its first U.S. concert at the Milwaukee Metalfest. Blackwater Park, titled after an obscure psychedelic prog outfit from the '70s, was released in early 2001. The album created a huge buzz among progressive metal fans, who had begun to lump the band in with other experimental metal bands like Tiamat. Throwdown, tightly coiled, is squeezing the world for the kill and poised to sink their collective fangs into the backbone of American metal. Rising from the underground world of the do-it-yourself hardcore scene with a recipe made up of Pantera, Machine Head, Sepultura and early Metallica, their mission is boldly proclaimed on Vendetta's title track: "This Is War/ This Is Pure Hostility/ This Is A Vendetta."
Their targets? The vacuous mainstream, the fashionable phonies in the "scene," and the wannabe tough guys who hop just as eagerly from trend to trend while swearing their supposed loyalty to "keeping it real." With their values intact and their pride holstered at their sides, Throwdown have issued ultimatum after ultimatum with empowering, venom-fueled songs. Liars and fakes, move aside, or be crushed.
Throwdown destroyed the second stage on Ozzfest. Owned the inaugural Sounds Of The Underground. And this summer, the band will perform on select dates at Strhess and Warped Tour.
Hardened by tough breaks, a few lineup changes, and plenty of hours on the road away from friends and family touring with their friends in bands as diverse as Soulfly, Lamb Of God and As I Lay Dying, Throwdown entered the studio last year with Zeuss (Shadows Fall) and crafted their defining work.
The heavy metallic fury and venomous snakebite of "Vendetta" is timeless, recalling the heyday of mid-90s metal with the spirit of traditional street punk and hardcore. It is alternately forward-thinking and modern, delivering on the promise of 2004's breakout album "Haymaker," which gave Revolver magazine cause to herald Throwdown as part of "The Future Of Metal" in a 2005 cover story. "Burn" lit MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball" ablaze, earning a coveted spot on the compilation of the same name.
The next Pantera? Well, that's what the press, and the fans, have said over and over. But the boys in the band are merely content to roll up their sleeves and put the hours in the practice room, in the studio, and in the van that this kind of music demands. And the fans have responded to their passion and honesty, showing up in droves to their 2006 co-headlining tour with Black Dahlia Murder and beyond. This is War. This is Pure Hostility.
